Frequently Asked Questions

Question:  What are the relationships, similarities and differences between DDAT (Dore Achievement Center) and the Learning Breakthrough Program?

Answer:  DDAT (Dore Achievement Centers) developed balance and sensory exercise methods and techniques based on the Learning Breakthrough Program presented on this website (see #1 below). A DDAT/Dore client visits a center, receives medical and educational testing, and takes home equipment and an exercise plan. They return in approximately 6 weeks for follow up testing and the next set of exercises to take home. This pattern continues for up to 12 months. The programs benefits come from the daily exercises performed at home. The cost is approximately $3000US (1500). The Learning Breakthrough Program is easy to use by the average parent or teacher. It is securely ordered on this website and delivered to your home or school via FEDEX. The program comes complete with detailed instructions, benchmarking tests and all equipment. The total cost is $379 in the US, 350 in the UK, and €499 in Europe (click to order).

DDAT/Dore claims to personalize the exercises based on individual needs. Learning Breakthrough participants all perform the same activities. The holistic nature of the Learning Breakthrough Program involves all the various senses and processes behind learning and performance. Our various senses such as visual, motor, auditory and balance are connected. The more they are exercised together the more integrated they become and the better we function. The program is designed to allow individual users to progress at different rates to more challenging levels. Although we are unaware of any problem with the DDAT/Dore approach, personalization is not necessary in order to benefit from the Learning Breakthrough Program.

Question:  Is the Learning Breakthrough Program a cure for Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, other Learning Disabilities or Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD/ADHD)?

Answer:  To call this a cure would be highly inappropriate. The Learning Breakthrough Program is a non-medical balance and sensory integration exercise program aimed at helping to better organize brain processing. People with learning and attention difficulties stand to benefit the most from proper use of the program. The average or gifted person who desires better performance may benefit as well. We like to think of the Learning Breakthrough Program as basic brain fitness.

Question:  Do I need any special training or outside help to use the Learning Breakthrough Program?

Answer:  The program comes with easy to use instructions, eliminating the need for special training or outside help. Once the user understands the important basic instructions, he or she can follow along with each days activities by viewing the included DVD. The activities are fun and have been designed to be easy to use by the average parent or teacher.

Question:  How often and for how long do you perform the exercises?

Answer:  We recommend doing the exercises for 15 minutes, twice a day. Many people experience improvements right away. However, lasting improvements may take from 3 to 12 months of daily use.

Question:  My child has been diagnosed as ADD/ADHD and is being treated by a physician. Should I see or discuss this with the doctor prior to beginning this program?

Answer:  If the participant is currently under a doctor's care and is being prescribed medications such as Ritalin or any drug that may impair vision or balance, a discussion with the physician is recommended prior to starting this program. You should not stop taking your medications without the specific direction of a physician. The Learning Breakthrough Program may be considered as a drug-free additional therapy when used under the supervision of your physician. If your physician is not familiar with The Learning Breakthrough Program, give him information to review or request that he visit our web site at www.learningbreakthrough.com. Our program is not a medical treatment. It is a learning and performance enhancement exercise plan.

Question:  How can I tell if The Learning Breakthrough Program is suitable for my child or me?

Answer:  Anyone who has a desire to improve their ability to learn and their physical performance can use this program. If you hear from teachers or if you sense that you or your child is not performing to full potential, this program may prove helpful. Developmental specialists, parents and teachers have reported that people with common symptoms of learning and attention difficulties experience significant and substantial benefits from following the program.
